Flexible systems can be a better choice. You don't have to build your system from scratch because it comes from a vendor but you can still have systems that will adapt to the culture at your plant(s). Flexible solutions allow you to take advantage of best practices while still being able to create configured screens, reports, graphs etc... that make sense in your situation. We recommend a thin client, browser interface because it is the easiest type of system to implement on the floor. With thin client software your vendor can make changes to your system that are available to your users without the need to re-install software on their machines. Modifications are made and can be rolled out instantly.

Another consideration is that your quality control software vendor may not support their product forever. Quite often software vendors are sold or they simply don't support the products that they once sold. Be sure that you check out their capabilities with their past customers. It's also good practice to look at software solutions that offer customizable interfaces that your internal IT department can modifiy if the need arises. Be sure that when choosing a manufacturing system of any kind you really do your homework because there are a lot of choices out there.
